Pros

Complete left-back with 6'2" height advantage

Riise is a physically dominant left-back who excels in both attack and defense. His height gives him a significant edge in aerial duels and physical battles.

Exceptional shooting and finishing

For a defender, his left-footed shots are incredibly powerful and accurate. His long-range efforts are especially lethal, making him a serious threat when pushing forward.

Strong defensive abilities

Riise’s standing tackles, sliding tackles, and interceptions are all top-notch. His positioning and awareness ensure he remains solid defensively, even against elite attackers.

Excellent passing and crossing

His passing range is impressive, with pinpoint accuracy in both short and long passes. As an early crosser, he delivers accurate balls into the box, creating scoring chances consistently.

Key traits that elevate his game

Riise possesses valuable traits such as Long Thrower, Long Shot Taker, and Early Crosser, making him even more versatile and effective on the field.

Cons

3* skill moves and weak foot

While Riise is a phenomenal LB, his 3* weak foot and skill moves limit his attacking creativity. Switching play or taking on defenders on his right foot can be a disadvantage.

Slight pace concern

Though his pace is still solid, at this level, it could be a bit better. Against the fastest wingers, he might struggle in foot races.

Conclusion

John Arne Riise is a dominant left-back with elite shooting, defending, and physicality. His passing and crossing abilities are superb, and his key traits add significant value. While his weak foot and skill moves are minor downsides, and his pace could be slightly improved, he remains one of the best LBs in the game.
