Virgil van Dijk Player Review
Pros
A Complete Monster at CB
Van Dijk is one of the most dominant centre-backs in the game. His overall presence, combined with elite-level physical and defensive stats, makes him nearly impossible to get past. He feels like a rock at the back and brings calmness and control to your defensive line.
Elite-Level Defending
His tackling is incredibly clean and powerful, whether it's standing or sliding. Interceptions are razor-sharp, and his ability to read the game makes him a nightmare for attackers. Man-marking is absolutely top-tier, and he never dives into a challenge unless it’s needed.
Physical Beast
Standing at 6'4", Van Dijk is a towering figure who wins nearly every aerial duel with ease. His strength allows him to bully strikers off the ball, and even the strongest forwards struggle to hold their ground against him.
Positioning and Defensive Awareness
Always in the right place at the right time. Whether it’s clearing a through ball, blocking a shot, or cutting off a dangerous pass, Van Dijk’s positioning is just perfect. His anticipation and awareness make him feel almost AI-controlled at times.
Composure and Reactions
Never gets stunned or caught off-guard. Even in high-pressure situations, he remains composed, often clearing the ball or starting a build-up without panic.
Ball Distribution and Build-Up Play
Very reliable passer from the back. Short passing, long diagonals, and quick build-up play are all smooth and accurate, allowing you to transition from defense to attack with ease.
Cons
No “Dives Into Tackles” Trait
Surprisingly, Van Dijk does not have the “Dives Into Tackles” trait, which is considered important for top-tier defenders. However, due to his sheer quality and timing, it doesn’t really affect his performance significantly.
Conclusion
Van Dijk is simply the definition of a defensive leader. Strong, intelligent, and always dependable, he elevates your entire backline. While he lacks the "Dives Into Tackles" trait, his stats, in-game feel, and overall performance more than make up for it.
