New Extra Time Picks Update in FC Mobile
With the launch of the Captains Event in EA Sports FC Mobile, today’s weekly refresh also updated the Extra Time (ET) Picks. This addition brings Captains Shards into the mix, giving players another way to progress in the new event while using their ET Tokens.
Captains Shards Added to Extra Time Picks
For the next 5 weeks, during the Captains Event, Extra Time Picks will include Captains Shards. This makes Extra Time more relevant to ongoing grinds, as shards are vital to claiming event players and completing exchanges.
Reminder
ET Tokens expire on 25/09/2025.
Any unused tokens after that date will become unusable, so players should plan their spending carefully.
Pick Structure, Cost & Limits
Star Pick
Cost: 10,000 ET Tokens
Limit: 1 per week
Rewards: Guaranteed 107–111 OVR cards
Notes: No Captains Shards are included in Star Picks. This is purely for high-OVR pulls.
Shard Pick
Cost: 5,000 ET Tokens
Limit: 3 per day
Rewards: Captains Shards (main source of shards through Extra Time)
Notes: Best option for steady shard accumulation, especially for free-to-play players.
Probabilities and OVR guarantees remain the same as before - EA has not made the odds better for high OVR cards. The only update is the shard inclusion in the daily pick.
What’s Not Available in Extra Time Picks?
It’s important to note that The Greatest Captains (like Cruyff, Messi and Maldini etc) are not available in Extra Time Picks. They also don’t appear in

- Store Packs
- General Exchange
These ICONs remain exclusive to the Greatest Captains Event chapter.
Strategy for Players
Daily Shard Picks are the most efficient way to spend ET Tokens, especially for free-to-play players.
Star Picks are a gamble - while they guarantee 107-111 OVR, they don’t contribute shards toward event progression.
Use tokens steadily, but don’t hoard too long since they expire Sept 25, 2025.
Duration of Update
This Extra Time Picks update will remain active for the full 5 weeks of the Captains Event, after which the pool will rotate again with the next event cycle.
Final Thoughts
The update makes Extra Time more valuable during Captains, particularly through Shard Picks. However, unchanged odds and costs mean players must choose wisely: go for shards to progress in the event or risk tokens on a weekly Star Pick for a big card pull.
