Everything you need to know ahead of the Upcoming Captains Stream
Earlier this month, the daily login rewards calendar gave us a sneak peek at upcoming FC Mobile content. First, the Grassroot Greats event banner appeared for August 14, which is now live. As expected, EA held an official live stream ahead of its launch to walk players through every detail of the event.
Now the spotlight shifts to what’s next. Between August 18 and 21, the calendar also teased the highly anticipated Captains event. With Ragnarok set to conclude on August 21, Captains is almost certain to go live right after, making it the next major event in the game. Grassroot Greats is a smaller 14-day side event, so Captains will be the true centerpiece moving forward.
To build excitement, the developers have already scheduled the official Captains live stream for August 20 at 00:30 UTC. Following the same tradition as Ragnarok and Grassroot Greats, this stream will provide a full breakdown of the event’s structure, featured players, currencies, and rewards.
What makes Captains particularly exciting is its theme. Since it’s titled “Captains,” we can expect the spotlight to be on some of football’s greatest leaders - both past and present. This could mean a mix of ICONs, Heroes, and current Live players who have worn the armband for club or country.
Among Live players, we could see names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Virgil van Dijk, Bruno Fernandes, Manuel Neuer, Cristian Romero, and many more who are active leaders in their teams. As for ICONs and Heroes, the possibilities are even more thrilling. Legendary figures such as Paolo Maldini, Johan Cruyff, Lothar Matthäus, Cafu, Dunga, Beckenbauer, and others who were known for leading their teams could easily feature in this event.
The live stream will likely confirm the event’s chapters and milestone paths, along with exclusive exchanges, premium packs, and possibly a Captains-themed pass. EA might also reveal unique event mechanics tied to the captaincy theme - perhaps building squads around team leaders, or unlocking rewards by collecting specific captains across eras.
Given how Ragnarok set such a high bar with constant new ICONs and Heroes, Captains is expected to carry the momentum with even bigger names and highly desirable rewards. Fans are already speculating that this event could deliver some of the most exciting cards of the season.
